HEX

$5,250.00

In 2005 I was awarded a residency from the Henry Street Settlement. Logistics as well as, frustrations with the art speak discussions on the grid or "organic" imagery necessitated a dramatic change in my art making. I began to research nature's organizing system: the hexagon. Scientists believe that nature created the hexagon because it is the most space efficient shape.  My continued appreciation and fascination with natures resilience and adaptability to the human imprint has inspired me to create site specific works. These hexagonal cells can be clustered into any room. Each hexagon is Masa paper cut,  waxed and welded together layer by layer. The art can be mounted and arranged on panels, traditional framing, or directly to the wall. They are sold as individual hexes, no less than three cells can be sold. The cost per hexagon is $250.00.
