Named by one of my all time favorite artists and mentors, Bruce Dorfman, this series has a special place in my heart. They were made after I participated in a two week intensive Drawing Marathon with Graham Nickson at the New York Studio School. Although, I can innately sculpt any form three dimensionally, I have a difficult time with representational drawing. When I can I choose to darken the entire sheet of paper, and then cut into it with an eraser reductively. I struggled for 2 straight weeks, and these were the works that I produced directly after finishing the marathon. The bumping and colliding circular forms squeezed into the 21 inch X 21 inch sheet of paper are my sexiest body of work yet. They were made from Masa paper waxed with natural bees wax from my Texan Bee Keeper. This drawing is shown mounted on a 1/4 inch sheet of cold pressed steel.
